Yan's First Built Project in London

An Award Winning Project Credit to Marks Barfield Architects

Yan's first project in UK has been officially opened by the Royal Family member, Princess Alexandra last week. There were 9,000 visitors on the first day. How good the feedback from the public is! So far, we only recieve one negative feedback who didn't get the feature of Corten steel. Fair enough.

Together with Chris Smiles, the project architect, Yan has worked throughout this project as another key designer to produce all the building information out of the Digital Project design model. It's a milestone project in terms of applying advanced digital technology and technique to real project and benifit the working flow. It's not only about the intelligent design, but also the efficient communication between different consultants, which is actually more crucial to deliver a good design.

Go to Kew and have a brilliant walk! That is the experience you have never had.

Thanks Alvin. The initial concept model was done in Max, which is much quicker and visual effective in competition stage. DP was used since planning application stage up to construction stage. I continuously working in the DP modeling throughout including detail development in line with all the technical drawings. So, yes, The contract document package is produced straight out of DP model too. For many times, we issed other consultants with the model (3dxml), which can be easily viewed in MicrosoftWord, instead of 2d drawings. I am still developing my knowledge and skills in DP, which is also capable to embed non-geometry information to the model. Consequently all the building information including spec, cost can be generated out of the model as well.
